Running a restaurant or food stand can be a tough business even in normal times. The COVID-19 pandemic has made business even more trying. Here’s a list of what you can do to help.
Dine out
If you are currently in town, forget cooking and doing dishes. Head out to your favorite restaurant. From what we have seen the locals are following health protocols. We are blessed with often great weather and outdoor spaces to enjoy dining al fresco.
Order Take Out or Delivery
If you don’t feel comfortable dining in or just want to chill at your casa, grab something to go. We have even gotten margaritas to go from El Candil with our take out food. We don’t have Uber Eats or Door Dash in Mulege but Ivan Rosas and his MotoMandados motorcycle service have you covered if you want delivery. For English call 615-161-0763 or 615-106-0728 for Spanish. Check the Mulege Facebook groups also for locals offering food delivery. Options range from sushi rolls to roast chicken.
Tip Generously
It might be tradition to tip only 10% in Mexico but if you can spare more, no one is going to be offended. Your waiter and or bartender might be splitting their tips with the rest of the staff.
Gift Cards
If you aren’t in town and still would like to help your beloved watering hole or restaurant survive, contact them and see if you can buy a gift card/certificate. Let me know if you need some help and maybe we can kick start a program.
Spread the Love
We are guilty of hitting the same spots and have resolved to spread the love and pesos around town. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Share your finds with friends and the community through Facebook and leaving reviews on sites like Google Maps. Ask for recommendations and new places to try. Check out our restaurant section for more ideas. What are we missing? Leave a comment!
